Winter Meme – A Baker’s Dozen on a Lazy Friday

Most of the questions in this meme were derived from a series of old letters written between me and one of my favorite people (you know who you are.)  I wish truckloads of happiness for you, my friend.

I am off to go do some snow-watching/drinking by a fireplace.  Have a good weekend all, everybody please be safe, Go Saints! And click me to see the funniest Who-Dat video ever.

  1. If you had to move away from your current city, what two or three cities you’ve never visited would top your list of choices?
  2. What was the last thing that stayed in Vegas?
  3. You are about to be snowed-in for two days and can pick any non-spouse, non-romantic partner, non-one of your children to be with you.  With whom would you like to be snowed-in (real life friend, and/or person you’ve never met)?
  4. What song should be kept in case that reads “break glass in case of emergency or [insert your name here] is really depressed or being a raving lunatic?
  5. What was the first book that changed your sensibilities?
  6. When meeting someone of the gender to which you’re oriented (professionally, socially, casually, on a train, wherever,) what’s the first thing that you notice about them?
  7. If you won a $1,000 today – assuming that today is not the day of snowmageddon and you have all of the flexibility you could want – how would you spend it?
  8. A great first date must involve ____________, and how does your answer change when in a relationship and it’s a date night?
  9. Upon a final edit, I realized that this question was a duplicate of #5.  Given that I have about three minutes to publish before leaving, and all of the art and everything else is labeled with Baker’s Dozen meme, what question do you wish I would have asked?
  10. What was the worst job you’ve ever had, and how much money would you have to be paid to do that job again for a year?
  11. If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, to whom would you direct questions, and what would you ask?
  12. As you’ve gotten older, to which list have you added more items: list of romantic deal-breakers, or list of romantic must-haves? What was the latest item added to either list?
  13. What is your most frequently occurring day dream?

    2-It stayed in Vegas
3-My best friend, we would have so much fun
    4-Anything by David Grey
    5-To Kill a Mockingbird
7-Use it to pay down our wedding debt
8- humor and good conversations. IT doesn’t change when you are in a good relationship.
9-What are you making for Sunday?
10-Worked in a daycare i had a horrible boss who wa so mean to me. I did love the job though. There is no amount of money that I will want to work for that woman again.
11-I am not sure, perhaps my husband
12-Must be willing to try to make new food, must want something better than you have now, understands the value of a good vacation
13-Winning the lottery and quitting my job

I know that paying down debt is the logical thing, but really? Nothing more whimsical with found money?

  2. Shannon says:

    Oooh, I’ll play!

    1. Buenos Aires, Miami, some perfect little village on a Central American beach that somebody needs to clue me into.
    2. Let’s just say it involved a stairwell and it’s none of your damn business.
    3. Present company excluded? My friend Sean, because we love to stay up all night, drinking wine and watching movies.
    4. “Girlfriend” by Matthew Sweet.
    5. The Bell Jar at age 15. I decided that depression wasn’t cool after all.
    6. Their hands. Soft, girly hands are no-go, because there’s a man who will never pick up anything heavier than the check, but neither are really dirty callused ones.
    7. I’d throw it at my student loan. Ok, fine, I’d use some of it to buy two assloads worth of booze and food and throw a great party.
    8. The ability to carry on a conversation. In a relationship, you need to stir in a dose of “Lets some silence happen so i can zone out and relax once in a while.”
    9. How did you know we’d be friends?
    10. Political consulting, working for the guy who got the dead fish from Rahm Emanuel. And no amount of money would get me to sign on for psychodrama and having to sleep under my desk every October.
    11. My boyfriend, though I usually just ask anybody anything that pops into my head. I’ve convinced myself that it’s charming.
    12. I’ve learned that I have to be with someone who has a fairly positive outlook on life – both in terms of friendship and relationships. If someone’s willing to drag you into the mud just to give themselves a quick hit of attention, they’re not really your friend. Of course, we all have our bad days…but if 99 out of 100 days are bad, then you’re dealing with a person who just doesn’t want to be happy.
    13. Being famous, which is weird considering I don’t want to be famous.

I had a strong suspicion the first time we met, but I think it was confirmed the next time. Anytime two people can hang at a swank restaurant and then swill pitchers of beer on the patio of a dive bar it is a good indicator in my book.

    6. Their clothing – is it tailored? Does it fit well? Quality? Do they have a certain je ne sais quoi?
    7. Pay off a debt and put the rest in savings. Oh and a nice dinner out.
    8. Laughter…. and that never changes.
    9. What is your first memory?
    10. Fundraiser for a health care organization under a psychotic boss. You’d have to pay me six figures to go back. And all my therapist bills.
    11. Actually my current CEO. I’d like to pick his brain about business, success, and why he hired me.
    12. Must haves. Emotional readiness. As
    13. Being a pole dancer – probably inspired by my recent flirtation with classes. Seriously fun and hard work.

Riding a tricycle at age three. I am not sure it is the same day, but in the amalgam memory of my mind, this was also the day that I told my mother to play 333 in the lottery. She didn’t and the number hit.
